Katya’s story of hope

Hi, I’m Katya, and I’m six years old. One day, I want to be the President of South Africa. Do you know why? Because I dream of a world where every child has a warm bed to sleep in and a happy story to read every night.

My story started a bit differently, though. I was born when my mom was going through a tough time. She was sick because of something called heroin, and we didn’t have a home like other families. We lived in many places, but none of them felt like a real home.

One day, I got a new family! They’re not like my first family, but they’re awesome. They helped me start school again, but this time, it’s on a computer! It’s fun because I can learn lots of things and make friends, even when I’m safe at home.

Now, I’m doing really well in school, and I feel happy. I want to help other children who are like me, who need a little extra love and support. That’s why I want to be president – to make sure every child gets a chance to be happy and safe, just like I am now.

By helping children like me, you’re not just giving us an education; you’re giving us hope. Hope for a future where we can all be happy, learn, and maybe even help others one day.
